VAS Talks 2023: The journey of GROWTH - Growing up to be RESILIENT, growing up to be HAPPY.
Helly Tong, Founder and CEO of The Yen Concept and co-founder of Lai Day Refill Station, shared an interesting definition of Well-becoming: "If Wellbeing is what we have (Self), when we step out into society, factors such as social pressure, reputation, or the environment are the things that push us to develop, mature, and step out of our comfort zone. And that is Well-becoming - the process of absorbing and learning new ideals when venturing out into the world”.
Quyen Nguyen - VAS Talks speaker from the first seasons, Founder and CEO of Lai Day Refill Station and Co-Founder of Vietnam Supply Chain pointed out the difference between "Wellbeing" and "Well-becoming”.
"If "Wellbeing" is a photograph taken in the present, "Well-becoming" is a film, a journey of development, towards a better version of yourself," Quyen Nguyen explained.
According to her, "well-becoming" does not aim for ultimate perfection, but rather for students to grow, advance, and mature day by day, so that when the time comes, they can fully express themselves. The abilities and knowledge gained during that lengthy process are then ignited, allowing one to live life to the fullest with passion.
Mr. Gilles Mahe, CEO of XCL Education Group, who has a wealth of life experience, advised, "Don't worry too much about the content you're going to learn but learn how to learn”.
Ngan Tran, Founder and CEO of The New Leaders, delivered the children some advice: "In our journey to adulthood, there will be many difficulties and challenges. But consider the image of a roly-poly doll: every time it falls, it immediately gets back up. That is also Ngan's wish for all of us. I hope you have the courage to "bounce back" after every fall and become a better version of yourself every day."
Every fall is a learning experience, and every time you get back up is a triumph. No one is born and achieves success without ever failing - this is also important advice that the speakers wish to give VASers. Be confident in yourself, be determined, and keep going; good things will follow!
VAS always focuses on and develops students' mental health to touch more hearts and listen to more stories. Hopefully, this VAS Talks sharing session will help you learn more about yourself, the path you chose to live your life to the fullest every day and grow as a global citizen!
