Scholarships

At VAS, we believe in the power of young people. We believe they can make a difference and we want to encourage them to go even further in the journey of making school a community or society, by enlarge, a better place.  

VAS Scholarship for Excellence recognizes students throughout the school system with the most outstanding achievements at each grade level. These students excel not only in the MOET and Cambridge programs but also by making their mark in academic and aptitude competitions at the school, district, city, national, and international levels.

VAS Campus Changemaker Scholarship aims at supporting students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to making a positive impact in the school community. It focuses on fostering leadership development, social entrepreneurship, and advocacy skills to empower the recipient students to drive meaningful changes.

VAS Scholarship for Excellence

Who is eligible

All current students from Grade 1 to Grade 11 are eligible to enter for this scholarship except VAS staff’s children.

  • All the nominated will enter the final interview round and the best students from both CAPI,  and CEP programmes are selected for the Scholarship for Excellence.
  • Scholarships are granted each school year based on the student's achievements at the end of each school year and the results of interviews for system-level scholarships.
  • The granted scholarship will be applied to the next school year.
  • Scholarship results are announced and awarded at the Year-end Ceremony of the school year.
Selection criteria

1. CAMPUS SELECTION: The nominated must meet the minimum requirement of achieving the title “Học sinh Giỏi” as classified by current MOET regulations and, at the same time, getting 80 or higher (or equivalence) in all point score subjects in CAMBRIDGE for the whole school year. They must also have very good conduct result together with their active participation in campus/school activities. Selection should be made as per the following:

Total Point Score = (MOET overall GPA x 10) + CAM overall GPA + Other Achievement bonuses (*) 

(*): Other Achievement Bonuses are 3, 2, and 1 point for each prize/award gained at International, National, and City levels respectively for both academic and enrichment subjects.

2. INTERVIEW: The nominated are interviewed in English with questions appropriate to their specific grade levels. Scoring depends on such criteria as fluency, problem solving skills, critical thinking, interaction, and their plans for actions, and /or contributions to the School and community in the future.    

 

Scholarship structure and value

The total number of students receiving scholarships is 33 students with a total value of 1.035.000.000 VND.

  • 15 Primary students - Grade 1 to Grade 5: Scholarship 30.000.000 VND per student (2 CAPI/CAP and 1 CEP per grade)
  • 09 Secondary students - Grade 6 to Grade 8: Scholarship 30.000.000 VND per student (2 CAPI/CAP/CIP and 1 CEP per grade)
  • 09 Secondary students - Grade 9 to Grade 11: Scholarship 35.000.000 VND per student (2 CAPI/CAP/CIP and 1 CEP per grade)

Selection criteria

1. Academic criteria:

  • MOET: achieving the award of “Học sinh xuất sắc” as classified by MOET regulations
  • Cambridge: achieving 80% or higher (or equivalence) in all subjects with grades.
  • Overall “Good Conduct” award 

2. Changemaker Criteria: 

  • Innovation & Creativity: Thinking and acting innovatively in addressing and solving issues within the school community or society in general. Learning in new ways, creating new ideas
  • Commitment to Change: Track record of actively working towards creating positive changes for the school community or beyond. 
  • Changemaker Quality: Impact of previous initiatives or projects on the school community or beyond. Demonstrating strong leadership and embracing collaboration (initiating and leading projects, organizing events, or mobilizing others for a cause)
  • Potential for Future Impact: Potential for making continuous & significant impact to the school community or beyond in the future 

 

Scholarship structure and value

The total number of students receiving scholarships is 10 students with a value of 15.000.000 VND per student.

  • VAS Ba Thang Hai: 03 students
  • VAS Sala and Garden Hills: 02 students per campus 
  • VAS Hoang Van Thu, VAS Sunrise and VAS Riverside: 01 student per campus

FAQ

  • Can students outside VAS apply for scholarships?

    This scholarship is only for students from grades 1 to 11 who are studying at Vietnam Australia International School (VAS).

  • Is it necessary to apply for this scholarship?

    Students do not need to apply for a scholarship. When the results of the school year are available, campus will nominate students with the highest academic achievements to the Scholarship Council. The council will review and interview students across campuses.

  • Time and validity of the scholarship?

    The scholarship is only valid for 1 year and applies to the academic year granted. For example, if a student is granted a scholarship for the 2023 - 2024 school year, the scholarship will only be valid in this school year and will not be transferred to another school year. In case a student leaves school or changes schools, the scholarship will be considered invalid.

  • After receiving the Scholarship results, do students have to do any procedures and how to receive the Scholarship?

    Students need to contact Campus Admission Office at the campus they are studying to have their tuition deducted for the new school year according to each tuition payment period chosen by their parents. Scholarships are not convertible to cash.
