Twelve VAS 12th grade students won scholarships worth over 60 billion VND to study abroad
Springboard for the dream of studying abroad
The impressive achievement of VAS students in both academics and extra-curricular activities have convinced many schools even though they have not sat their final A-Level and the National High School Graduation examinations. This school year, VAS has twelve students who won early scholarships at 28 prestigious universities in the world, with a total scholarship value of more than 60 billion VND.
Can Vu Binh Minh, a 12th grader at Sunrise campus, was approved by 14 of 15 universities in the US which he had applied to and was granted scholarships by 10 of the schools with a total value of 19.6 billion VND for 4 years of study. Many of those schools are at the top university rankings in the US such as the University of Chicago ranked number 6th, New York University ranked #30th, Northeastern University ranked #67th and Boston University ranked #42nd. Binh Minh has studied at VAS for 12 years since Grade 1 and plans to pursue Biomedical Engineering major at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA in the upcoming years.
Many other VAS students have also received 2 or 3 scholarships to study abroad, including Tran Khanh Linh, Truong Khiet Lam, Nguyen Anh Thong from Ba Thang Hai campus and Trinh Quang Huy from Hoang Van Thu campus. The number of scholarships will continue to increase shortly when the universities release their official results for the fall semester of 2021.
More than 800 city-level to international awards
At the lower grade level, more than 8,000 students at VAS' 7 campuses have achieved nearly 1,000 academic and talent awards, more than 800 awards ranging from city to international levels, twice as high as those of the previous school year. These competitions have taken place with different forms, scales and fields including SASMO International Math Competition, English Champion, April Olympics, TOEFL Junior, Scientific Research, Scientific and Practical Knowledge, World Scholar's Cup, and talent contests organized by the HCMC Department of Education and Training (DOET), Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and other units.
Thanks to being cultivated in an intensive and practical educational environment in both MOET and Cambridge programmes, VAS students are confident in participating in experimental and research activities. The whole school has 22 projects competing in the "Scientific Research Project" contest organized by the DOET, of which 13 topics won high prizes at the school level and 2 topics won the first prizes at the city level.
In the latest IELTS test, more than 30% of Grade 11th and 12th VAS students participated and achieved the band score 7.0 or higher, of which 18 students scored 7.5 and 8. This is a solid foundation for students to continue to obtain high-value scholarships at prestigious universities.
The results come from the education programmes and teaching faculty
With more than 17 years of experience in teaching MOET and Cambridge programmes, VAS has gathered a team of nearly 1,000 talented and highly experienced Vietnamese and foreign teachers who have strong dedication to education, from preschool to high school. 100% of teachers own university or college degrees and 15% of them have master’s or higher degrees. Having a long-term commitment to an educational organization helps teachers have good understanding of the psychology, strengths and weaknesses of each student, thereby take the most appropriate approaches in supporting them throughout their development.
Our teachers always adopt and develop creative methods to help students complete their school year with the highest results, regardless of offline or online learning forms. Last May, Ms. Hoang Thi Hong Nhung - VAS Kindergarten Teacher at Garden Hills Campus was excellently awarded the First Prize for the efforts to apply 3D technology to lesson delivery in the City-level Excellent Teacher contest held by the DOET.
In addition to the main responsibility of teaching, they are also an inspirational role model and provide strong support to students in extracurricular activities, talent and academic competitions. This is also the key to help VAS students best prepare their psychology and knowledge for the exams as well as achieving high results throughout the year, especially during the difficult period due to the Covid-19 impact.
VAS is providing 3 education programmes, including CEP, CAP and CAP International, that are suitable for student's ability, English skills and each family's expectations.
