84 Students Competed In The Cap English Speaking Competition 2018 Finals

In the vibrant atmosphere of the 2018 CAP English Speaking Contest Finals, there were tears of victory and sparkling smiles when the names of the talents were announced on stage. All the participation showcased the students’ mindful investment, their enthusiasm and dedication, and success achieved after so many hard-working days.

Late in March, 84 VAS students taking the Cambridge Academic Program (CAP) from kindergarten to high school had the chance to express themselves in front of parents and students at the 2018 CAP English Speaking Contest Finals.

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders had a total of 18 presentations, both individuals and groups. The clips of these small kids telling lovely and funny stories made for a really difficult job for the judges to choose the winning performances.

The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, on the other hand, confidently and diversely presented the audience with a wide variety of topics, ranging from hot current issues such as environmental protection, climate change, or why we should speak English, to emotional topics like Motherhood and future dreams. Phan Thanh Thao, class 5.5 from the Garden Hills Campus, also brought to the contest the speech, "Why VAS is the best school in Vietnam", with very lovely descriptions and convincing arguments.

The competitions among the high school students was characterized by decisive and brave arguments. Besides expressing themselves about such challenging topics as whether extroverts are more likely to succeed than introverts and should Business be added to 12th grade program, the students were able to present their arguments in their debate teams logically and coherently. Their debates were made exciting and attractive due to their confidence and mastery of intonation and stress, which created a lot of fun and excitement for the audience and the judges.

Throughout the program, VAS students demonstrated not only their fluency in English, critical thinking, problem-solving skills but also creativity in each session. With all their efforts, these students deserve to be recognized and praised and they will definitely develop to their fullest in the future!
