VAS Olympics Finale 2016 and the Joy of Victory

The finale of the Sports Festival - VAS Olympics 2016 took place on the morning of 02/04/2016 at the Hoa Lu Stadium with the supportive attendance of hundreds of parents and students from five VAS campuses. In addition to the athletes competing in the activities which included Football, Giant Chess, and Athletics; this year’s Festival also had a large playground for all VAS students to participate in with Fast-Playing Chess - Meeting the Grandmasters, Yo-Yo skills competitions, Hoola-Hoop, Sumo Wrestling, Archery, Artistic ball bouncing, Basketball, Transport Man, Ant Retrieving, and Walking on a rope-bridge …

The Sports Festival opened with a flash mob performance of pupils from our elementary school with impressive and eye-catching VAS Scrabble. After the opening whistle, all of the soccer field, the running track and the chess board were quickly heated up by a lot of fiercely competitive  matches. Unlike the preliminary rounds, in these finale games, the spirit and quality of the competitors had increased significantly. And the triumphs were ever more worthy of their efforts.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere of the larger playgrounds was just as exciting with the Archery, Basketball, and Yo-Yo skills competitions… Perhaps the most popular activity according to our VAS student was playing chess with the fast-playing chess and meeting with the grandmasters. The checkerboard area has always attracted the attention of many parents as well as our VAS students.

The VAS Olympics 2016 included the following events: Mini-Soccer, International Chess, Basketball, Swimming and Athletics for all students in grades 3-4-5, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-11. The Basketball and Swimming tournaments took place at the individual school campuses.

After 180 minutes of exciting and dramatic competitions, VAS had its group of young champions of the 2016 VAS Olympics! They are the most talented of our young participants in the field of sports and they should be fostered and encouraged to train harder in order to fly even higher in any future events held around the country! We are all proud to call them our VAS Champions!
