Two outstanding VAS students achieved the "Top in Vietnam" award in their IGCSE exams in April 2016

57% of Primary students achieved excellent results in Math

In the Primary Checkpoint exam in school year 2015-2016, VAS registered 1,232 Primary students. In Math, 98% of the students scored above average, whereas 57% of students ranked as excellent. Similarly, 87% of the students scored above average in Science and 81% of them scored above average in English. This is an impressive achievement where VAS Elementary students completed the exam for the first time.

99% of the High school students met and exceeded the requirements in English.

In the Checkpoint Secondary 1 exam, VAS achieved 99% of 616 Secondary students registering and scoring above average in ESL English points, whereas 40% of students scored Excellent. In Math, all 100% of students scored above  average with 82% of students ranked as excellent. This feat was repeated in Science with 99.5% of the students scored above average, while 24% of them scored excellent. With this result, the school is fully confident that VAS students will reach higher achievements in the 2016-2017 school year.

2 students ranked as the "Top in Vietnam" in their IGCSE exam

In the last school year, 405 VAS students sat their IGCSE exams, double the number of students that participated in school year 2014-2015  (202 students). Most of them achieved good results in Math, ESL English, Chemistry and Information Technology. Especially, in Math and Information Technology, VAS students achieved higher points with the rate 5-10% comparing with the students in other schools. In particular, Vuong Cung Quang of Sunrise Campus, and Dinh Nam Anh of Hoang Van Thu Campus were recognised for their outstanding achievements and were rewarded with the "Top in Vietnam" award after their results in ESL English and Science.

However, in Business Studies and Global Perspectives subjects, the number of students achieving high results was lower than expected. In fact, most of the students in Vietnam still encounter many difficulties when they face with the new concepts of Business Studies and Global Perspectives at Secondary School (especially when these subjects are taught in First Language English). To improve this, VAS has set many new goals to help students approach these complicated subjects and to support them better.

Exciting, diverse curricular programs in school year 2016-2017

To help students develop from a broad and balanced curriculum and VAS has a wide range of opportunities available to students, in this school year, VAS has organised a increased number of extra curricular activities including talent clubs and soft skills classes. VAS students can choose from activities including lunch time clubs and after school classes.

Lunch time clubs primary aim is to focus on providing students with a fun environment where they can share and experience activities that they enjoy. These take place under the guidance of the teachers for Primary students (from 10h45 - 11h30) and Secondary (from 11h30-12h15). Students may choose to take a nap or participate in these clubs. This year VAS is also developing its after school extra-curricular programme, interacting with several professional organisations to open "after school" classes led by experienced, qualified and trained instructors in dance, swimming, cooking, art and craft, chess, drama and others in order to meet the needs of developing students skills, fostering the talent of the students and addressing the needs of the parents.
