A VAS STUDENT ACHIEVING THE WORLD’S HIGHEST SCORE IN IGCSE ENGLISH
According to the results of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Exam in school year 2016-2017, Dinh Nam Anh, an 11th grader of VAS, has excellently achieved the world's highest score in English as a second language in 10th grade. The results were evaluated and accredited by the Cambridge University Council of Examiners - CIE. VAS can take pride in this outstanding achievement as well as its Cambridge International Education program.
Dinh Nam Anh - Outstanding Achievement Learner Award gained the world’s highest score in English, IGCSE for the 10th grade.
At the Cambridge International Examinations in May and June 2017, VAS also had two other students topping Vietnam in two other subjects, including Patrick Colin Dooley with top score in Coordinated Science in IGCSE grade10, and Ta Quang Minh Alex getting top score for Business Study, grade11 AS level. In addition, VAS has 6 other students achieving Outstanding Achievement Learner Award of IGCSE with 5 A and A*. The award ceremony for the high achieving students took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater on 25/11/2017 with the participation of more than 500 VAS students and parents.
These examinations are the ones held for the students enrolling in the Cambridge International Education Program worldwide. All the examination processes, from exam submission to exam results, are directly conducted and managed by CIE to ensure objectivity and transparency. The qualifications and certificates of these exams are also issued by CIE and are equivalent to all those issued by CIE anywhere in the world.
VAS students excellently scored higher than CIE’s world average scores in all levels exams including Primary Checkpoint, Secondary Checkpoint, IGCSE and AS level.
This year's result is so sweet for VAS students at all levels from Primary Checkpoint (Grade 5) to Advanced Level - AS Level (Grade 11). 100% of VAS’s 8th graders taking the Secondary Checkpoint score from Good to Excellence in Math. Their achievements in English and Science are 98% and 94% respectively, which is higher than CIE’s average score across the world. For the Primary Checkpoint and IGCSE exams, VAS students also outperform the 2015-2016 school year and get higher than the average CIE score across the world. Specifically, 85% of VAS students achieved C-A* of IGCSE for Global Perspectives, 87% for English, 94% for Science, and 97% for Math.
Patrick Colin Dooley and Ta Quang Minh Alex, gaining Outstanding Achievement Learner Awards with the highest scores in Vietnam for IGCSE Coordinated Science and AS level Business Study respectively.
Though this is the first year VAS has had students taking AS Level exams, the students’ achievements are really impressive and far exceed the CIE world average in Math, Business and Computer Science. Especially, in Math, 91% of VAS students taking the exam achieved C-A, of which 52% rank A, the highest result of AS Level. AS Level certification is not only recognized worldwide but also considered as a boarding pass for applications for leading universities in many countries such as England, Iceland, USA, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Netherlands, New Zealand ...
