VAS’s Advantages in teaching Cambridge Academic Programme International
As per Cambridge’s 2018 survey results, 100% of admissions experts at colleges around the globe believe the Cambridge education program can enable students to be fully ready for higher education
The secondary education program designed by Cambridge is being run in 160 nations and territories, giving out diplomas and certificates highly appreciated in many countries fostering advanced education like the United States, the UK, Australia, Canada and Germany. All colleges in the UK and more than 600 in the United States accept Cambridge International AS and A Level qualifications, including all the Ivy League and Ivy Plus schools such as Brown, Harvard, MIT, Stanford and Yale.
At Vietnam Australia International School (VAS), more than 90% of the 12th graders attending the Cambridge Academic Programme International are admitted and have won prestigious scholarships to influential colleges and universities worldwide. In particular, this February, nine grade-12 students from our Ba Thang Hai campus in HCMC won scholarships early in the United Kingdom, the United States and the Netherlands immediately after the first semester of the school year. Many of them were awarded scholarships of very high value (nearly VND2 billion) and became qualified for three or four colleges at the same time.

This gives VAS the motivation to further expand and introduce the Cambridge Academic Programme International into other campuses. Precisely, this education program will be implemented for the secondary age group at four campuses from the 2020-2021 school year, including the Ba Thang Hai, Riverside, Hoang Van Thu and Sala campuses. The overwhelming advantage of this program is that students only study some subjects in the National Secondary Programme (promulgated by the Ministry of Education and Training) in Vietnamese—including literature, history, geography and moral education—while others are integrated into the Cambridge program and taught entirely in English. Therefore, students can still attend exams and obtain degrees and certificates of the National Secondary Programme in addition to Cambridge international qualifications.
VAS has a significant advantage gained by its Cambridge-qualified teaching staff, modern facilities and an output quality similar to other international schools in Vietnam.
As a pioneer who brought the Cambridge secondary education program into HCMC, VAS has fared better than many completely international or bilingual schools running the same program. First of all, VAS is the official and strategic partner of the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) for carrying out the Cambridge program. VAS students can take exams to receive CAIE degrees and certificates in accordance with their study pathways right in the campus without having to register through intermediaries.
The second advantage comes from a team of 984 talented and creative teachers, with 100% of them as university and college graduates and 15% holding a Master’s degree or higher. Most foreign teachers from the UK, the U.S. and Australia are carefully selected by VAS and annually trained and certified by the CAIE. The state-of-the-art facilities and advanced equipment available at the seven VAS campuses are another asset, giving students easy access to the latest achievements in science and technology, meeting the high standards of the Cambridge program.
To enable students to be ready for the Cambridge Academic Programme International with nearly 40 classes taught in English every week, VAS study pathways build a solid foundation for knowledge and skills starting immediately from the primary level and make it easy to switch between pathways. In addition, the duration in which lessons are given in English at VAS is longer than at similar schools in HCMC at all levels, while the tuition is only half or two-thirds of the rates of these schools.

After the twelfth grade, students can obtain degrees and certificates from both programs, including Cambridge International AS and A Level qualifications and the high school diploma from the Ministry of Education and Training. Notably, at VAS, students may test themselves with IELTS 6.5+ or strive for the certificate of international information and communication technology Full License in high school, a step which facilitates students’ path to the “hunt” for scholarships to renowned colleges.
VAS has attractive promotions for hundreds of students who register early in March 2020. Learn about these promotions and sign up for a visit to VAS campuses at https://www.vas.edu.vn/ or via the hotline 0911 2677 55.
