A Year of Harvesting Awards for VAS Students

Among the 688 awards, 19 National-level awards, 89 City-level and 580 District-level ones. The most typical National-level awards are the ones of the English Champion Contest, English Olympics and Math ViOlympic on the Internet, and the TOEFL Junior Contest 2015. In the MOET Education Program, VAS has 100% Primary students (5th grade) completing the program and Junior High School students (9th grade) who are qualified to be considered for graduation; 100% of the Senior High School students (12th grade) who are qualified to be considered for High School graduation and University admissions; 100% of the students upgrading and 100% of the students achieving good conduct recognition.

In the Program for International Education in Cambridge, VAS has 1132 students, accounting for 34% of the total number of students from Grade 1 to Grade 8, who have achieved 3~4 Gold Points in the following subjects: English, Math, Science and Information Technology and Media. In addition, 83% of the students in Grades 11 and 12 have reached 5.5 points in IELTS; 33% have achieved 6.5 and above. In the International IGCSE exams, VAS has 70 students in Grade 10 who are eligible to be selected to the A Level program in the new school year 2016-2017. There are three most outstanding students in BTH, HVT and Sunrise Campuses honored to receive a scholarship which is equal to 30% of the tuition of the first year of the A Level program by VAS. With these brilliant achievements, many VAS students have achieved a high scholarship at schools in the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and other countries.

Representing the VAS students receiving prestigious scholarships, Nguyen Hoang Minh, a 9th grade student at Sunrise Campus, has shared with us: "VAS has changed me, starting yesterday, continuing today and onward to forever. The teachers not only teach me boundless useful knowledge but also teach me how to live in a noble and honorable way, how to choose; how to not do regretful things as well as how to cooperate with others. And through those lessons, I’ve learned how to be a decent man."

Speaking at the graduation ceremony on 27-28-29/5/2016 at the Hoa Binh Theatre, Mr. Marcel Van Miert – VAS Executive Chairman, warmly commended the achievements of students in all fields and encouraged them to actively participate in all activities further developing their skills, physical and intellectual while at VAS. It’s the way to show off the potential and learn the valuable lessons from both successes as well as failures.

Besides the achievements of our students, VAS teachers have also had a lot of successes in the school year 2015-2016. While 10 teachers from the Primary level were awarded in the District and City level "Good Teacher" competition, there were 17 Secondary teachers who achieved City level award and 3 teachers who achieved National level awards in the competition "Teaching Based on Integrated Topics” held by the HCMC Department of Education and Ministry of Education and Training. The annual ceremony is an opportunity to summarize the activities of the past school year and to honor all of the students and teachers for their outstanding achievements.

The school’s year-end ceremony 2015-2016 concluded in a celebratory atmosphere with the various performances from 5 Primary and Secondary Campuses in the VAS system. More than 25 groups of dancers, singers, musical performers, and martial artists ... performed at 5 separate ceremonies. Each performance carried a certain color, and a certain message but above all, showed off the students’ talents and confidence displaying what it means to be VAS students - global citizens of the future.
