Some great tips to support your children happily and confidently join grade 1
- Close collaboration between parents and teachers to get all needed information, recognize and support in time whenever children have problems in the new environment.
- Don’t put too much study pressure on your children or worry they will be left behind. Instead of that, let’s focus more on developing the “foundation skills” such as communication, raising questions and concentration for your children, and let them grow freely at their own pace.
- Understand learning pathways as well as the new environment for your children to make sure they can get the appropriate care and teaching method.
- Stay calm to clarify the problems: “Parents’ psychological trap” is the biggest barrier in raising a child. This is the unconscious fears about whether that child performs well or not. This barrier creates a defending and judgmental feeling in parents’ mind when they receive abnormal feedback about their children, making them feel hard to accept the feedback thoroughly. To overcome this “trap”, parents need to be patient in collecting information and judge the issue objectively from many perspectives, from there figuring out a proper solution.
Apart from studying, children be able to confidently adapt and make new relationships is always what parents want. So how can we support our children to overcome their fears and build good relationships when entering Grade 1? Let’s have a look at some of the tips here!
- Talk regularly with your children in a happy mood, prompting them to talk by telling your own stories so that they are also excited to share their school experiences.
- Listen carefully and pay attention to your children's behaviors like real friends, as well as working closely with teachers to understand more about your children.
- Trust and let your children experience and learn about their social roles at school, interact with many friends with different personality traits. Rest assured that your children will receive timely support from the school's education specialists.
