Letter to parents – Academic Year of 2013 - 2014
and sincerest thanks to you for your strong support and belief in our responsibility of having been teaching and equipping your children with knowledge and skills for nearly 10 years.
Firstly, we are happy to inform you about the great achievements in making efforts to continuously improve the quality of teaching. University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has chosen VAS to affiliate with for implementing Cambridge International Programs, and training courses of teaching methodology to deliver Cambridge Primary and Secondary qualifications. Licensed by the MOET and DOET, from the academic year 2013 – 2014, a bilingual curriculum will be officially implemented at VAS. With this integrated curriculum, students will not only graduate with the diplomas issued by the MOET but also the international certificates from the University of Cambridge. Particularly, the primary students finishing grade 5 will receive Cambridge Primary Checkpoint certificate, the secondary students finishing grade 8: Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint certificate; the students finishing grade 10: Cambridge IGCSE; and the students finishing grade 12 will be awarded A level Certificate.
To implement the new program in accordance with Cambridge standards, we have not only upgraded all school facilities and built new functional rooms, but also provided new textbooks, library equipment, and teaching aids to reach Cambridge qualifications. In addition, a new campus with the area of approximately 1 hectare will be opened in Sunrise City, District 7.

Besides, VAS has also invested 2 million US dollars in employment and training. Specifically, we have employed 50 foreign experienced teachers who are certified by CIE and provided Cambridge qualification training for 150 current teachers. On the 21st of July, 2013, all teachers of VAS have proudly received Cambridge Certificates of Training.
Prof. Tran Quang Quy – Vice Minister of MOET, Mr. Le Hong Son – Director of DOET (HCMC), Ms. Isabel Nisbet – Asian Regional Director of CIE, Mr. Pham Tan Nghia – Chairman cum General Director of VAS (middle, awarding Cambridge Certificates of Training to 150 teachers at VAS – Ba Thang Hai campus on the 21st of July, 2013.
With our professional teaching staffs and experienced managing board, Dr. Thai Duy Bao, Chairman of the Academic Board (Ph.D in Linguistics, National University of Australia, more than 30 years of working in education), Mr. Michael Allan Charles, High School Director of Studies (Master of Education, more than 30 years of working in educational management, consultant of MOET in Canada, Program Director of the University of York, England), and the Primary School Director of Studies, Mr. Andy Bjorn Robertson (Master in Primary Educational Management from Phoenix University, USA, Master in European political system from Lund University, Sweden, more than 10 years of teaching and managing in international schools), we are confident that VAS will have sufficient resources to fulfill the missions of teaching and training for the future generation of Vietnam.
As educators, we deeply understand that parents have always cared for their children’s studies, especially in the context that there are still concerns about the quality of education. This is also the reason why we have worked our best to meet the parents’ expectations and belief in the past 10 years. Once again, we would like to make the commitment to continue to maintain and continually raise the quality of teaching and training of VAS.
For the development of the students and to give them a chance to experience the world's advanced learning environment and teaching methods, we hope that we will continue to have your trust, support and company. Lastly, on behalf of the School, the Academic Board, and all teachers of Vietnam Australia International School, we wish you good health, success and hope to see the stronger relationship between you and our school.
Sincerely,
PHAM TAN NGHIA
Chairman cum General Director
