Regarding school closure and the leave of absence
till March 16th for all students except Grade 12 who will return on March 9th, 2020 to prevent further possible spread of the disease
Dear Parents,
The VAS Board of Management would like to express its sincere thanks to all parents and students for continuing the great support and close cooperation with the School over the past 4 weeks to help prevention of acute respiratory infections caused by Covid-19 virus.
In considering the continued complicated nature of the disease, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) decided on Saturday, February 29th that all students except grade 12 will be required to stay home until the 16th March to help prevent further possible spread of the disease.
Therefore, the full school for all students should reopen on Monday, March 16th, 2020.
We look forward to welcoming Grade 12 only back on Monday the 9th.
These dates will remain subject to further instructions from the Authorities.
Our teachers will therefore continue to support students and provide the relevant learning materials and instructions as well as videos and online learning as they have during the closure period. We have been grateful for your support and we are pleased that 100% of our teachers have been online working with our students engaged in virtual learning.
During this time, we do need your strong support in ensuring that your children dedicate serious study time. It is in your child’s interest to ensure they keep the process of learning alive during this time and be ready for the restart. Please ask your teachers for advice or help if you need it.
It is difficult to plan ahead as we do not know how the Coronavirus crisis unfolds but we have been busy preparing scenarios that are best for students based on possible government decisions and we will communicate over the next week with you the plans for the remainder of the year based on the new opening dates.
For the continued health and safety of all students and the community, once again, we look forward to receiving your understanding, support and cooperation in preventing further possible spread of the virus and follow government guidelines on health and travel. We will write with any further update or decision from the People's Committee of HCMC and the Department of Education and Training of HCMC if and when it arrives.
