Fun-Filled VAS Summer Fair 2016
Inspired by the tropical summer, the fair is designed and decorated like a miniature forest where booths are made from natural materials such as bamboo, leaves, crafts ... This year, the fair gathered 22 booths from all campuses and departments at VAS with many fun areas such as the folk and modern game area, regional and typical food area, traditional arts and crafts area, an indoor theater where many musical performances from VAS campuses take place and the mega music Summer Festival at the Grand stage.
Right from the early morning, students and their families from VAS campuses and the non-VAS schools gathered at Ba Thang Hai campus to visit the fair. In the dynamic yellow shirts specifically designed for the fair, the students went from booth to booth and eagerly participated in traditional games such as breaking the piggy banks, painting statues, creating “tò-he”, tightening coconut leaves or experiencing the typical dishes that are from many regions of the country.
The atmosphere at the indoor stage was also lively with singing and dancing performances from the preschool and secondary students. After 6-week being trained in singing, choreography and performing skills, students became more confident, more professional and had better perception of performances.
The highlight of the program is the mega music Summer Festival taking place on the grand stage with the participation of VAS students and teachers and famous experts such as music producer Duong Khac Linh, choreographers Daniel Denev and Lam Vinh Hai, Chef Rebecca ... The performances, which were shown by the students and the celebrities, really brought a glowing new vitality to the Summer Fair 2016. The students also had an opportunity to apply what they learned from the cooking lessons into the Junior Master Chef competition or to express their musical talents by participating in outdoor performances with the street band to raise funds for charity.
In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of the summer camp, the VAS school also warmly honored three external students who excellently passed the requirements to win VAS Scholarship 2016. The scholarship is 100% of tuition fee which is applied for this school year and will be for the following years at VAS if those students maintain their outstanding academic results stipulated at VAS. Those outstanding students, who received the prestigious scholarship, are Nguyen Vuong Khai An, Grade 4, Hoang Minh Khe and Thai Thi Ha Vy - Grades 9.
Delivering the remark at the Summer Fair 2016, Madam Nguyen Hoa Mai – the Principal of VAS said, "We’ve ended the 6-week VAS Summer Programme 2016 with the theme "Growing up through 7 core values”. During the summer course, the students have done their good job not only in studying and reviewing academic knowledge but also in physical trainings, life skills and participating in the exciting field trips. Over 90% of students at all levels have successfully completed the summer program and achieved high records in sports, talents and arts activities... Through experiencing activities, they have enjoyed the happiness as well as improved their knowledge, built the friendship, shared their sympathy and love with others, built up their patriotism, and had a better understanding of the laborers... On behalf of the school management board, I’d like to congratulate your maturity. I am happy as you have reached beyond yourselves."
