VAS hosts The World Scholar’s Cup 2019 in Vietnam

VAS officially became the host for the Vietnam regional round of the World Scholar’s Cup 2019, an international debate competition with the topic, "A World on the Margins.” The regional round will take place on the 11th to the 13th of May 2019 at the Sala Mega Campus, VAS and Hoa Binh Theater. The event will attract nearly 800 students from 100 primary and secondary schools from across all of Vietnam.

The World Scholar’s Cup is an International Team Academic competition initiated by the organization with the same name for secondary students worldwide. This is an annual playground - where students all over the world express opinions on a variety of topics such as politics, science, history, literature, and the arts through discussions and debates in English. This year, the competition will include more than 40,000 students from 70 countries worldwide.

Over the past years, VAS has continuously participated in and won outstanding prizes at this competition. In 2018, seven VAS students participateded in the final round held at Yale University (USA), winning 29 Gold medals and 15 Silver medals. Bradley Quynh Lien, a student from Class 10B5 at the Ba Thang Hai campus surpassed thousands of candidates from all over the world to win the final individual prize, ranking 12th among 1000 contestants from the Senior Division and earned the the prize, " Number 1 Scholar from the Country of Vietnam”. 

This year, VAS has 142 students enrolled in all 3 Divisions: Skittles, Junior and Senior. With the domestic regional round held right on our "home court", VAS hopes that VASers will be confident to compete and win the highest achievements to advance to the Global Round in Beijing, The Hague -Amsterdam and Sydney!
