Announcement letter regarding school closure and the leave of absence for students until April 6th, 2020 to prevent further possible spread of the disease

Ho Chi Minh City, March 13th, 2020

ANNOUNCEMENT LETTER

Regarding school closure and the leave of absence for students until April 6th, 2020 to prevent further possible spread of the disease

Dear Parents,

Following the decision of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), students across all grades will continue to remain at home until April 6th, 2020 to prevent the further possible spread of the Covid-19 virus. This means all VAS students will continue their learning from home for the next three weeks and are expected to come back to school on Monday, April 6th, 2020.

As you will appreciate, the current situation is an unanticipated event for all of us and we believe that this decision has been taken after careful consideration by the authorities in order to protect the health of our students. More than ever, this is also the time when all of us - the VAS Board of Management, teachers, parents and students - need to actively support each other and stay positive as we move forward.

For the school as a whole, VAS teachers will continue to enhance the virtual learning experiences for your children and create engaging learning activities for them through the creative use of photos, video-clips and interesting lessons, as well as giving clear guidance, and support to each student when needed. In addition to the online lessons that students receive each day, students can also refer and learn further from other VAS teachers through lectures and videos that are frequently updated on the VAS YouTube channel and Facebook fan page.

As a school, we always place a high priority on fulfilling our responsibilities to providing your children with the best education possible. In particular, the school has been fully active in ensuring the students’ safety and keeping them on track with their studies prior to them going back to their individual schools. The new study plan to help students revise knowledge and prepare for important exams will be shared with parents as soon as the school reopens. Hopefully this will be soon and do be assured - everyone misses having the students in school!

In addition to encouraging and supporting students to study at home and completing the work set for them by the teachers, we hope parents will not to be too worried or put additional pressure on your children, yet at the same time make them cautious of the virus. Please remind your children to follow the necessary and precautionary measures such as washing hands frequently with soap, wearing masks and limiting access to public places. We believe that this is, despite the circumstances, a practical opportunity for VAS students to develop their independence and adaptability to ‘be the best they can be’ despite the situation we all find ourselves in.

Once again, VAS Board of Management deeply appreciate and would like to thank all parents for your close cooperation with the school during the current situation. Be assured, we look forward to welcoming your children back to the school and we hope that this will be sooner rather than later!

Best regards,

VAS Board of Management
