VAS - Announcement letter regarding the suspected Covid-19 case involving an expat teacher from the Cambridge programme at the Ba Thang Hai campus
Ho Chi Minh City, June 01st, 2021
Dear Parents,
We deeply regret that there has been an undesirable situation relating to the Covid-19 suspect case involving one of our expat teachers in the Cambridge programme at Ba Thang Hai campus. The teacher has been identified as a suspected Covid-19 as he is residing on the same floor (32nd floor) with a Covid-19 case, at the Riviera Point, District 7, as announced on May 29th, 2021.
Upon investigation, we have learned that this teacher did not strictly follow the school's rules on wearing a mask constantly during the examination time. The case has already been recorded by our Ba Thang Hai campus, and VAS will take appropriate disciplinary actions following the school’s regulations after this teacher has completed the necessary quarantine and treatment. Please be assured that other campuses have not been affected.
From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely share the concerns of parents and students in this force majeure and undesirable situation.
Since learning about the situation, the school has been working closely with the authorities to locate F1 individuals, including staff members, teachers, and students, so that they can be isolated and monitored in a timely manner.
On the evening of May 31st, 2021, the school also sent a letter to the parents of this group of students to inform them that the school has been working with and is awaiting the authorities' approval on the arrangement for all F1 students, who were directly affected by the above suspected case, to quarantine at a hotel instead of going to previously designated isolation facilities. In addition, to enlighten a part of your concerns and worries, we are committed to shouldering all F1 students’ quarantine-related costs, except for personal expenses, during their quarantine hotel stay that is arranged by VAS in line with the directions from the authorities.
The organization of the IGCSE exam for 10th grade students is in the framework of Cambridge's international exams following the global schedule. The school had fully reported to and followed the guidelines of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Education and Training in accordance with the Official Statement No. 1415/UBND-VX dated May 6th, 2021.
As for the school, we, once again, assure you that we are right beside you and will continue to do our best for the highest safety of the students. The teachers, the Board of Management and all staff have been accompanying the students and collaborating with parents in a timely manner to encourage, share the concerns and support you complete the procedures for the quarantine at hotel. Teachers are also preparing plans for online class activities with appropriate topics for the students during the isolation period to keep the connection between them and the teachers.
Once again, we are truly sorry for this undesirable case and hope that parents will stay calm and collaborate closely with the school as well as the authorities in helping our children and the school weather through this difficult time.
We are sincerely grateful for your understanding.
Best regards,
VAS Board of Management
