Over 3 billion vnd VAS 2016 Talent Scholarship

To encourage outstanding students to participate in a learning environment of international standards, VAS officially announced "VAS Talent Scholarship 2016-2017". After 3 months of launching, VAS received hundreds of application from excellent students in HCMC and other provinces. First, they went through the shortlisting round based on academic achievements and extra-curricular activities. Those shortlisted then did a multiple choice test and an essay writing and finally had an interview with VAS Scholarship Selection Board. Surpassing other candidates, Nguyen Vuong Khai An, a 4th grader from Tan Phu district and Hoang Minh Khe, a 9th grader from Dinh Thien Ly School, were unanimously selected for the prestigious scholarships.

Nguyen Vuong Khai An and his collection of international English certificates

Khai An has a “huge” collection of academic achievements from a very young age! When he was twelve-month old, Khai An could identify 24 letters and 10 digits. At the age of 2, Khai An completed Grade 1 program and at 3, he finished all the 2th grade books (his father teaches him at home). Khai An began to learn English from the age of 3 and his collection of certificates of English proficiency including Cambridge Starter, Flyers, KET and Toefl Junior Certificate B1 and B2 (CEFR) soon piled up. Now, at the age of 10, Khai An achieved IELTS Academic 7.0 (C1 - CEFR) - an Academic English certificate for those who want to pursue higher education.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong, Khai An’s father, said: "In my opinion, this scholarship is a good opportunity for students all over the city. I know that VAS is an excellent school system with high quality of education and facilities We are so glad Khai An was granted the scholarship and this is a wonderful opportunity for him to get to know new things and, at the same time, to consolidate what he has learned. My family have always desired and oriented him towards a full scholarship from a famous American University. Studying in VAS, Khai An will have good chances to expose himself with good friends and face new challenges. That’s why I believe that my child is coming very close to his dream.”

Hoang Minh Khue – A girl of extra-curricular activities

Hoang Minh Khe, in the meantime, is an energetic girl  who, with good academic results, is always the pioneer in the extra-curricular activities of her school. At the presentation, Minh Khe shared: "I know about this scholarship from VAS website. When informed of the scholarship offer, I was so surprised that I had to re-read my name dozens of times before I knew it was true. I felt truly happy! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to continue to develop my skills and knowledge in VAS. I noticed that VAS has many interesting educational programs such as "7 core values" with refreshing spirit. I feel like all of these things are there to welcome me back and experience. I will definitely grow and enjoy every moment in VAS!”

In the coming years at VAS, Minh Khe, as a scholarship recipient, wants to not just excel in some subjects to prepare herself for overseas study but also maintain high academic achievements as a model student.  In addition, Khe will take the lead in organizing student-initiated activities and events as well as those launched by the school.

“Our family is very glad that Khe has received VAS scholarships for the 2016-2017 and the coming school years. We believe this is a valuable opportunity for our child to be educated in a dynamic environment where there is an optimum combination of national culture and internationally developed education. She will be confident to communicate and work in an international environment.” said Minh Khe’s father, Mr. Hoang Huy Thong.

In addition, from the school year 2015-2016, VAS will also award 14 scholarships to 14 best VAS students. These Study Encouragement Scholarships are to encourage students to learn and grow. The selection is based on the students’ achievements in both the National and International Education Programs, which is followed by the scholarship selection exam results and interviews with VAS Scholarship Selection Board. The Scholarships will be awarded to 11 best students from grades 1 to 11, one from each grade. There are also 3 special Scholarships for three best students from the three school levels, including Primary school (grades 1-5), Secondary school (Grades 6-8) and High school (9-11).
