Garden Hills’ VASers excellently won 64 awards at the World Scholar's Cup 2023 - Global round!
A student delegation of 19 VASers from “Debate and Speech Society” club - Primary and Lower-Secondary of Garden Hills campus travelled to Bangkok (Thailand) in early September to compete in the World Scholars Cup (WSC) - Global round.
Under the guidance and training of teacher Karla Jacinto and the companionship of two International Programme Coordinators, Ms. Hong Dung and Ms. Minh Nguyet, the students had 5 successful days of competition.
Despite competing against thousands of candidates from all over the world, 19 Garden Hills VASers amazingly won a total of 64 awards in team and individual categories, including 2 Trophies, 22 Golds and 40 Silvers.
14/19 VASers, in particular, gained tickets to the final round of the "Tournament of Champions," to be held next November at Yale University, one of the most prestigious universities in the USA.
After 13 years of operation, the World Scholar's Cup is regarded as one of the major international academic competitions for students aged 8 to 18 from all over the world. The competition showcases students’ confidence, ability to debate in English, and general knowledge. The World Scholar's Cup has four primary competition contents: Team Debate, Scholar's Bowl, Collaborative Writing, and Scholar's Challenge – all conducted in English!
