VASers bring the “Light-up-knowledge” lamps to students in remote areas in An Giang and Dien Bien

The project presented to 50 students of the school - those who still do not have access to the national electricity grid – a solar-powered desk lamp for each. The members  raised funds to purchase and assemble these lamps themselves. Each student receiving a lamp will also receive an additional pomelo tree to grow in their home garden. In addition, the project also donated to the school 1500 notebooks, 1300 biscuit packages and sufficient medical supplies to set up a health room in the school.

This is the poorest commune of Tri Ton district, An Giang province which is 70% Khmer, in which the proportion of poor and near poor households account for over 36% of the commune's population. People mainly do agricultural production and small scale retail trade for a living, and still encounter many difficulties and challenges.

At the end of June, “Light Up Your Knowledge” also connected and awarded 20 ASER40 solar desk lamps to students in Nam Pan 1 village, Muong Toong commune, Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province with the support in assembling from students of STEM Club, Chu Van An Specialized School, Lang Son City.

This area belongs to the westernmost border region of Vietnam, where there are still many young generations who have not had access to electricity yet. These students cannot study at night, even if they want to, because the only light in the village is from glimmering oil lamps that are prioritized for lighting the family.

With these meaningful gifts, VASers hope to bring to the children who have many difficulties, the motivation to study, conquer boundless knowledge, and head toward a brighter future.
